Tybee Island

For my last real day in the USA I rented a bike and rode 15miles out to Tybee Island. The coast here is a series of small islands divided by small rivers and swampland. The outermost island is Tybee with a beach and pretty lighthouse. It was a very pleasant ride out as I had the wind at my back and the road was flat with a few downhills. I had a delicious luch at The Crab Shack with a fresh seafood platter of oysters, prawns and crab washed down with a nice cold beer as I watched alligators creep around in a swampy enclosure below me. This gave me the energy I needed to complete the ride back to Savannah into a gale force headwind, hills that had previously seemed small and to top it off, halfway along it started to rain! But I made it safe and sound, if a bit tired and wet.

My next 24 hours I sat on a bus to Miami, tried to sleep for a few hours at the airport and flew down to Port of Spain, Trinidad.

Thus ends part 1 of my adventure!
